The Heroes of Oceanside & Camp Pendleton Luncheon

Presented by the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, recognizes people and organizations whose service, leadership and commitment strengthen the Oceanside community.

The 2026 celebration recognizes healthcare professionals alongside members of the military, public safety, education, local business and the greater Oceanside community.

The Heroes of Oceanside & Camp Pendleton Luncheon is one of Oceanside’s most meaningful community traditions, honoring those who dedicate their lives to service and leadership. Each year, the event recognizes Marines and Sailors from Camp Pendleton; Oceanside Police, Fire, and Lifeguards; healthcare professionals; educators; and community members who go above and beyond for our city. It’s a time to celebrate bravery, compassion, and excellence across all sectors that make Oceanside strong. The luncheon also highlights outstanding small businesses and civic leaders whose contributions uplift our community and inspire others to serve.

Meet Dr. Melissa Hurd

Dr. Melissa Hurd, Family Medicine | Vista, California

Dr. Melissa Hurd has practiced in North County since 1998. A graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine, she chose Family Medicine because she values the breadth of caring for patients throughout their lives.

For Dr. Hurd, good medicine begins with listening. She believes in meeting patients where they are rather than expecting them to fit into a healthcare system that can be difficult to navigate. Her approach centers on understanding each patient and building long-term relationships where people know they are heard and cared for.

Dr. Hurd has been part of Greater Tri-Cities IPA since beginning her North County practice. She values GTCIPA’s support of independent physicians and believes preserving community-based medical practices is increasingly important.

Her current GTCIPA patient materials identify her as accepting patients at her Family Medicine practice in Vista and speaking English and Spanish.

Meet Dr. Perrin Curran

Dr. Perrin Curran, Internal Medicine | Oceanside, California

Dr. Perrin Curran has always believed one of the most rewarding roles in medicine is being a neighborhood doctor. After completing his medical training in St. Louis, he returned to Southern California and established his practice in Oceanside in 1996.

For Dr. Curran, caring for patients means treating people like good neighbors. He believes understanding what matters in a patient’s life helps physicians provide care that not only supports good health but helps people return to the activities and experiences that give their lives meaning.

Dr. Curran has been part of Greater Tri-Cities IPA since its beginning 25 years ago. He values GTCIPA’s commitment to helping independent physicians remain independent, accessible and connected to their communities.

His updated patient-facing materials identify him as a Board-Certified Internal Medicine physician who has practiced in Oceanside since 1996, with decades of experience caring for adults.
